Hattie Carthan Community Market Mural
I was commissioned to design and paint a mural for the Hattie Carthan Community Market in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. This market is a new addition to the Hattie Carthan Community Garden. The mural was painted with a group of high school kids called the Youth Tillers, a program organized through Green Guerrillas, an urban gardening non-profit. I brainstormed with the Tillers to generate ideas for the basic elements of the painting. The challenge was to create something that was beautiful and lively, but not overly challenging for inexperienced painters to complete.
